The Hub

Role-Specific Access and Visibility

Access for all Roles

The Hub is a central starting page and dashboard for all user accounts in vucavoid regardless of their specific role. Depending on the role, each user account can view the status and due dates of relevant entities for the compliance management in one place.

Please note, The Hub is a tenant-specific dashboard, since vucavoid does not allow for escalating data outside the tenant context.

To summarize shortly:

  • Universal Access: The Hub is accessible to all users, regardless of their roles in vucavoid.
  • Role-Based Visibility: Specific elements' visibility may vary based on the roles assigned to the user.

Overview of The Hub

The Hub is divided into multiple rows and primarily into three columns. A mobile setup reduces the number of columns accordingly.

The first row is showing the following information:

  • Identification of the user via avatar (if not set, the application will show the initials of the user) and first name.
  • Number of tenants that are available to the user account.
  • Activated tenant.
  • Button to sign out the application and end the current session.

The second row is only showing for users with the following roles (for the activated tenant):

  • Tenant admin
  • Compliance manager

For users with these roles assigned, the second row provides high-level information on the current VUCA Score (levels). The widgets shown in this row are the same widgets as shown on the VUCA Score page itself. For more information on the VUCA Score, please refer to the dedicated documentation page.

Within the first two columns vucavoid lists information on all entity types that are accessible to the user. The different entity types are presented in single sections, with two sections showing per row.

In the third column, a user-specific task list is presented. Per default, the list is ordered by due date (ascending order with the closest due date on top). Also, the user list is filtered for open and overdue tasks per default. This can be swiftly changed by using the filter button on top of the task list.

For every section, including the task list, the user can call the overview of relevant entity types (like risks, incidents or meta model capabilities) directly from The Hub. By clicking the list icon in the top right corner of each section, the overview for the respective entity type opens in a new tab.

Also, adding a new entity for an entity type is accessible by clicking the plus icon next to the list icon in the upper right part of each section. This will open a new tab with the form to add another entity.

VUCA score

Only for users with the roles of either tenant admin or compliance manager (for the specific tenant), there is an additional row between the first and the second row, showing the VUCA score for the respective tenant.

Handling and Task Management

The composition of sections in The Hub are depending strictly on the assigned role(s) per tenant. If an user has no access to e. g. risks per his/her assigned roles in this specific tenant, there will be no section for viewing or even altering risks in The Hub. Additionally, if an user has only limited access to certain parts of entity types (like risks), only the accessible entities will be displayed in The Hub.

User Task List

Located on the right side, every user, regardless of assigned roles, can see a list of the top 10 tasks assigned to the user as an owner or watcher. By using the pagination dropdown menu at the bottom of the task list, the user can alter the number of tasks displayed on The Hub. The following task attributes are possibly displayed, depending on data availability in task:

  • Title
  • Status
  • Role (Owner/Watcher)
  • Priority
  • Due date

Clicking on a task title directs the user to its detailed view (i. e. view or edit, depneing on the status and the access role).

Coverage of entity types

As outlined above, users can only see such entity types that they are allowed for to access. At maximum (i. e. roles of tenant admin and compliance manager), the following entity types can be viewed in The Hub:

  • Findings
  • Risks
  • Incidents
  • Controls
  • Challenges
  • Slots
  • Capabilities
  • Requirements
  • References
  • Tasks

Searching and sorting

Searching

Each section table has a search field for keyword input to find specific elements. Once the user starts typing, the table lists will be filtered for the keywords automatically.

Sorting

Users can sort elements by clicking on the respective column headings. Multiple clicks on the same heading will alter the order by which vucavoid sorts the columns (alternating between ascending and descending order).
